If you’re not familiar, Open Graph tags are a form of structured data created by Facebook. This structured data is a systemized way to provide meta information about your page. This information includes the page’s URL, short description, and image amongst other available data.
In other words, OG tags let you put information (like the thumbnail image) exactly where Facebook expects it. It’s like leaving mail in your mailbox instead of on the driveway.
