Like meta keywords, meta descriptions are not a ranking signal. In other words, adding keywords to your meta descriptions won’t help you get more search engine traffic. That said, search engines do display meta descriptions in the results pages. By writing more enticing meta descriptions, you can get more people to click on your site instead of another.
This tactic works best for pages that are already ranking on the first page. It likely won’t have much of an effect on pages that searchers aren’t finding in the search engines yet.
