When we think of title tags for SEO, the first thing that comes to mind is keywords. The conventional wisdom is to include your full keyword in the title and the closer to the start the better. While that advice isn’t wrong per say, there’s a more modern approach to title tag optimization, and that approach is writing for click-through rates.
By rewriting your title to be more interesting and curiosity-provoking, you can garner more clicks in the SERPS. More clicks = more traffic. But wait, there’s more!
There is evidence that increasing your clickthrough rate can actually increase your rankings. In other words, more clicks = more traffic = higher rankings = more clicks (maths?).
Now, this tactic won’t help much if you’re the 39th result, but give it a shot for any pages with first-page keyword rankings.
